We're back from the games. We stayed the whole time and watched a little bit of everything. Padme came home with a bow and arrows, a new scarf ("Scotland Forever" tartan) and a big bottle of Berry Mash.
John bought me a shirt. A nice big baggy one too. I told him about how when I was little I'd ask Mom to make shirts like this for me, but I always called them pirate shirts. I would've bought a kilt (which perhaps might not be called kilts when women wear them - but I'm a cross dresser, so I WOULD be wearing a kilt and not a skirt) but I didn't want to wade through the miles and miles and patterns and patterns of tartans because that would've taken me forever before I'd decided that one of them "spoke" to me. They had them separated by clan which was nice too. I don't even think that we would be considered as members of the clan since I trace it through my mother to her father. It's still Padme's and my heritage. Those are still the ancestors whose blood stirs in my veins from time to time. (Yes, I did turn into a puddle when the bagpipes played, but had on very dark sunglasses and a pocket full of kleenex.)
And being a private person, I didn't want to run around announcing that I was connected to the Craig clan, but Padme kept SHOUTING it across fields..."Hey, MOM! Here's THE CRAIG CLAN!!!!" hahahahahaha!
I did see a wolf necklace that I wanted to bring home with me, but kept forgetting to return to the booth until we were out in the parking lot. Wolf understands. I'll find another wolf necklace that calls to me. Wolf has been with me my whole life and I've only recently come to understand that perhaps this is because Wolf was with my ancestors.
Padme was able to have many of her requests answered by the Universe: she saw a Scottish Fold, puppies, a scarlet macaw, and an eagle up close. Those are all things she'd talked about wanting to see. She loved the petting zoo. Unlike most of the people there, she and I were more concerned with how the animals felt than how we felt. There was a chicken there that looked like Cheep Cheep. (And watching Padme with her we know we want to buy Padme another chick and let her raise it and keep it like she did the original Cheep Cheep.) When we saw that she was getting overwhelmed by over excited children, Padme sat down with her in her lap. She calmed down and felt safe and protected. When Padme set her beside her, the hen rested her head on Padme's lap like a puppy dog. Very cute.
We watched the collies herding sheep, and ducks! The duck herding was funny, but the dogs and the trainer did an amazing job. I can' t imagine the patience it takes to train a dog up, and to stand there for hours on end like that. The focus, patience and concentration on every being's part was quite a treat to behold.
There was one man participating in the games that we didn't care much for. He seemed very ego driven. John told me, "That's the evil Scotsman from the movies who loses in the end to the good guy." Well, I think (when last we saw) that guy was the over all victor. So, perhaps our perceived egotism was simply his focus and concentration; and him finding his inner space...the zone so to speak.
The cattle were beautiful! (Yes, I want one!!!!!) I was able to brush a beautiful girl named Sugar. Sadly, she didn't follow me home.
Now I'm sunburned and pleasantly exhausted, and ready to settle in for the night in my nice, comfy shirt.
Love and hugs and blesswings!
